In this interview, Daniel explains how acute Q fever often presents as a flu-like syndrome, making it difficult to distinguish from more common infections such as flu or COVID-19. He also discusses chronic Q fever, a rare but severe form of the disease that may affect people with specific cardiovascular risk factors.
The interview highlights the importance of identifying risk groups, including farmers, veterinarians, abattoir workers, laboratory personnel and people working in or near farms with cattle, sheep and goats.
