Practical, downloadable fact sheets for farmers across Europe.
The European Q Fever Committee (EU Q Fever Committee) is releasing today two new Q-Facts, for farmers: What is Q Fever? and When to suspect Q Fever/coxiellosis on a dairy cattle herd?
These new Q-Facts cover the main species and professional profiles affected, providing evidence-based summaries, field indicators, and prevention guidelines adapted to the European context.
Q-Facts are short and practical fact sheets designed to improve understanding of Q Fever (Coxiella burnetii infection) among professionals working with animals and humans. All Q-Facts are freely available on the Committees website.
Other available Q-Facts are:
Q-Facts for Veterinary Practitioners
Q-Facts for Human Doctors
Q Fever remains one of Europe’s most underdiagnosed zoonotic diseases, affecting both farmed ruminants (cattle, sheep, goats) and humans. By enhancing awareness and early detection, these new materials aim to support field veterinarians, general practitioners, and livestock owners in identifying and controlling the disease more effectively, ultimately helping to reduce reproductive losses, protect public health, and limit environmental contamination.
